Carlos Checa claims double at Imola

Carlos Checa had a strong weekend at the World Superbike-event in Imola, claiming victory in both races.

Carlos Checa won the first race after he halfway into the race put a move on early leader Tom Sykes. Having passed Sykes he set the lap record in an impressive pace as he won his second race of the year. Kawasaki rider Tom Sykes joined him on the podium together with BMW Motorsport rider Len Haslam.

The podium in the second heat was identical with Checa this time chased hard by Tom sykes with Leon Haslam taking another third place.

The result now means Althea Ducati-rider Checa leads the standings ahead of Max Biaggi and Tom Sykes. The next round is at Assen in three weeks time.
